Why international patients consider India for eye care

India has a large network of ophthalmology hospitals and specialists offering a wide range of modern eye-care services. We help international patients navigate that network rather than trying to arrange everything alone.

Access to experienced specialists

We connect patients with suitable ophthalmologists from our partner network based on their condition, treatment requirements and availability.

A personalised treatment plan

Your available eye reports can be reviewed before travel, followed by the necessary in-person examination at the treating hospital.

Potentially lower overall treatment costs

Treatment costs vary by hospital, surgeon, lens and individual medical requirements. We provide a written estimate so you can evaluate the complete journey before making travel arrangements.

Not just surgery. A coordinated journey.

For an international patient, choosing a surgeon is only one part of the process.

You also need to think about flights, visa documents, airport transportation, accommodation, hospital visits, medicines, follow-up examinations and returning home.

That's where our coordination team comes in.

Understanding cataract

What is a cataract?

A cataract develops when the natural lens inside the eye becomes cloudy, causing vision to become blurred or less clear. Cataract surgery replaces the cloudy lens with an artificial intraocular lens when surgery is appropriate.

Cataracts usually develop gradually with age. Some people notice changes in everyday activities before they realise that the cataract has become significant.

  • Difficulty reading or recognising faces
  • Glare or difficulty seeing at night
  • Colours may appear less bright
  • Vision may remain blurred despite changing glasses

Cataract treatment

Your surgeon chooses the appropriate technique and lens

There isn't one cataract procedure or lens that is right for everyone. Your surgeon considers your eye measurements, medical history, visual requirements and lifestyle before recommending treatment.

Phacoemulsification

A commonly used modern cataract technique in which the cloudy lens is broken into small pieces and removed through a small incision before an intraocular lens is placed.

Femtosecond laser-assisted surgery

Some hospitals offer laser-assisted steps as part of cataract surgery. Suitability depends on the individual patient and surgeon's assessment.

Intraocular lens options

Monofocal, toric, multifocal and EDOF lenses may be available depending on the patient's eye measurements, needs and surgeon's recommendation.

Important: The final surgical technique, lens and treatment plan are determined by the treating ophthalmologist after appropriate examination. We do not promise a particular clinical outcome.
